http://www.thekenyonleader.com/content/donald-p-estrem ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Donald P. Estrem, 68, of rural Dennison, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born July 28, 1943, in Faribault, Minn., son of Leonard and Ida (Lindstrom) Estrem. From age four, he was raised by godparents, Maurice and MaryAnn Kasa. Graduated from Northfield High School in 1961. Worked as a heavy equipment operator for Enebak Construction in Northfield from 1962-1971. United in marriage to Nordis Blegseth on Feb. 8, 1963, in Northfield. Don started Estrem Excavating full-time in 1971. Member of Vang Lutheran Church and Vang Cemetery board, Dennison Lions, Goodhue County Historical Society, DNR Forestry Committee, and Minnesota LICA. Don collected historical items and memorabilia and was a well-known historian, avid reader and genealogist. Summers were spent exploring back roads with Norrie and the grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Nordis Estrem, of Dennison; children, Dan (Debra) Estrem, of Inver Grove Heights; Dee Ann (Tim) Larson, of Northfield; Dawn (Steve) McClenney, of Cannon Falls; six grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Paul) Knivsland, of North St. Paul; and Anne (Gayle) Erickson, of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, godparents and two brothers, Kenneth and Lowell. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon, on Monday, April 2, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at Vang Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 3, 2012, from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Vang Lutheran Church with The Reverend Terje Hausken officiating. Interment will be in the Vang Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Vang Lutheran Cemetery.
