Well today August 7, 2011 is our 46th wedding Anniversary. Only four more years till 50!! Let's take the time machine back to August 7, 1965. It was 99 degrees that day, no air conditioning in the large parish house where we changed into our wedding attire. My sister Mary and the girls put some baby powder on me to get me into my wedding dress. The old St Joseph Pioneer Church was surprisingly cool for our ceremony. The dear St. Joseph ladies all jumped in to help daddy with all the details and they made a wonderful dinner for the reception which was held in the town of Perham. When there was a mix up and the wedding flowers weren't delivered to the church, one of the St. Joe ladies, Babe drove really fast and got the flowers to us on time. Wow! Let's view two photos in those days. Photo #1: Here we are. Front row: Kathleen Hughes, Rosanne (Gerber) Estrem, Phillip Estrem, Daniel Hughes. Back row: Eileen Krueger, May Kay (Pomahatch) Estrem, Mary (Gerber) Hughes, Tom Estrem, Bill Biedler & John Gerber. Note the flowers. We would have been raiding Fr John's flower gardens if the flowers hadn't come in time. OK, lets take the time machine forward to 1990 and our 25th anniversary. Hosted by Marilyn and Marge. We couldn't believe 25 years had passed but we sure had a fun 25 years. The girls did a wonderful job hosting an open house for us here at Sleepy Valley. I got out our wedding guest book and we used it again for the 25th for people to sign. I said that I would get the quest book out again for our 50th, thinking that was so many years in the future. Al and Helen Jung came from Perham, so we were thrilled to have them. I could go on and on but I will close by saying we sure have had a wonderful 46 years together and its on to 50.
