For today's old photos let's view two undated but charming Nick Jahn Cabinet Portraits, (Perham, MN) that both have a very young Anton (Anthony) Gerber on them. Anton (our grandpa Tony) was the son of Adam and Cresentia (Lenz) Gerber who came west from Johnstown PA in 1869-1870 to what would become Perham, MN. Anton was born December 28, 1873 in the family's log home and grew up with his sister Helena (Lena Hassler later) and brother Baltz on the homestead about 4 1/2 miles west of Perham, MN. On November 22, 1898 Anton married Annie Bogenschutz at St. Henry's Church at Perham. It was a double wedding with Annie's sister Mary Bogenschutz marring John Blass, who worked at Schroder Brewery at Perham and later was Brewmaster in Boscobel Wisconsin. Anton and Annie would have six children Grace, Mary (Gerber) Farrell, Adam, Helen (Gerber) Krueger, Alois "Wishy" (our daddy) and Francis. Picture #2: The four young people were all dressed up for some special occasion. Anton Gerber on the right. The others are unidentified.
Can anyone out there identify any of the other people from long ago?? It was always a special time when portraits were taken. These portraits were in Adam and Cresentia Gerber's album.
