Photo #2: Shows the top of the three legged mill on the ground on the east side of the summer kitchen after the storm. The early Gerber women Crescentia and Annie cooked the meals on a wood burning cook stove in this little building (summer kitchen) that was attached to the house. Cooking in there kept the main house much cooler in the summer. In the winter they cooked in the big kitchen and welcomed the warmth. We all owe a lot to these sturdy women of all the pioneer families.
