Photo #6: Francis (1st row knelling) and a crew in England. Francis was shot down over Germany. He could speak German and an old German woman hid him in her cheese cave which was in the mountain and the entrance door to it was in her house. She was amazed that an American could speak German and she told him that if the German's found him that they might kill both of them so he had to be very quiet. God bless the old German lady, she saved his life. Later Francis was missing in action in Africa. Both times he was rescued. He finished his service in post war Germany and the USA as a Master Sergeant. He was a good man and "Pops" and "Birdie" and mama were proud of him. Francis P.
